George Wearring (BA50). Inducted to the Universitys Athletic Hall of Fame in 1989, Wearring was among the first three students to graduate from Western with an undergraduate degree in Physical Education the same year he was captain of the Mustangs basketball team and led the league in scoring. Named to the all-star basketball team for three consecutive years from 1947 to 1950, he also played as an all-star centre for the 1948 and 1949 football Mustangs. After completing his bachelor degree, Wearring played for Canadas 1952 Olympic basketball team at the Games in Helsinki, Finland.
