Bevington joined the Buccaneers in season 2000 and there was initial cause for concern as he laboured with back problems and a lack of fitness after three years off the court. After some lacklustre performances early in the season many thought Jeff may soon be on a plane back to Canada. Luckily though, the decision was made to give Jeff a chance to prove himself...and boy, did he. Bevington averaged 16 points and more than ten rebounds a game. He improved in every game of the season. Bevington has come out firing for season 2001, posting two scores over 40 in his first two games of the season and he's widely favoured as MVP for the Skywest Basketball League for this season.
